Violence Against Children in Southeast Asia is a booklet which aims to be a tool for all child rights advocates in the region. It contains global, regional and national facts and figures on the forms of violence and the groups of children who are in vulnerable situations.


CRC Asia will launch the booklet on the 4th of July 2017 from 6 pm to 7 pm Bangkok time at the Foreign Correspondents’ Club of Thailand.

Invited in the reception are representatives from international child rights advocacy groups, United Nations agencies, national human rights organizations and international non-government organizations. The launch shall also feature a performance by the Crescent Moon Space, a group of performing artists based in Bangkok.

This child-friendly material explains the UN CRC General Comment No. 19 (GC19) Public Budgeting for the Realization of Children’s Rights which was launched on 22 September 2016.


GC19 spells out the obligations of state parties to the UNCRC regarding open, inclusive and accountable resource mobilization, budget allocation and spending for children. GC19 also recommends that children all over the world participate in budget decisions that will, for sure, affect them.

The Regional Consultation on Accelerating Efforts To End Child Marriage in South Asia

The 2 days Consultation - Accelerating Efforts to End Child Marriage in South Asiathrough Joint Action with Regional and National Human Rights Institutions and inPartnership with Key Regional Partners, was convened in Kathmandu Nepal from 2-3 June2016.

The meeting consisted of technical presentations on key issues and strategies forpromoting legal accountability for ending child marriage by resource persons, nationallevel perspectives from selected Member States and 3 Group Exercises to frame the coreissues of interest for the way forward.

Regional Children's Consultation on the SAARC Regional Strategy on Child Sexual Abuse & Exploitation (Including online Safety)

Child participation is an integral part of South Asia Initiative to End Violence against Children (SAIEVAC) from its inception. SAIEVAC strongly believes that all children’s input and involvement are valuable to making any campaign against Violence Against Children successful and actively encourages children participation in every area and at every level. The engagement and participation of children in SAIEVAC is an essential precondition to ensure children’s perspectives on violence are taken into consideration by policy decision makers in systems and institutions that could affect their development.

NACGs regional training on Child Participation

The SDG Alliance 8.7 is a partnership initiative that focuses on ending child labourforced labour, modern slavery and human trafficking through coordinated, multistakeholderand concerted action. SDG 8.7 is ambitious but critical to the achievement of many other goals and it can only be achieved effectively if all key actors of society act inpartnership and in coordination with swift support to communities to protect childrenfrom child labour and all forms of violence in all settings.

The Consultation was hosted by theMinistry of Labour and Human Resources, the National Commission for Women andChildren and the NACG Bhutan (SAIEVAC National Mechanisms); and Organized bythe SAIEVAC Regional Secretariat in collaboration with South Asia Coordinating Groupon Action against Violence against Children (SACG) - Supported by the InternationalLabour Organization (ILO).

ASEAN Guideline for a Non-Violent Approach to Nurture, Care and Development of Children in all Settings

The ASEAN Guidelines for a Non-Violent Approach to Nurture, Care, and Development of Children, in all Settings was developed in support the ASEAN RPA (Regional Plan of Action) on EVAC (the Elimination of Violence against Children) adopted by the ASEAN leaders at the 27th ASEAN Summit in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in November 2015. This Guidelines will serve as an ideal manual for parents, caregivers, and communities to improve their skills and understanding on positive discipline, ensure non-violent interactive communication and relationship with children, child nurture, child care, and promote an enabling environment in all settings (home, school, educational settings, the community, workplace, alternative care/children’s shelters, and juvenile justice centres).
